Vivekananda Ashrama Shyamlatal (Himalayas)

As a part of 150th Birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda an integrated child development program named Gadhadhar Abhudaya Project ,was started from 2010 ,under financial support from government of India. Under this program physical, mental, moral and intellectual training was imparted to the children between 5 to 12 years of age. Presently the State Bank of India is financing the project. There are about 50 children from the locality are participating in the programme. The programme is conducted between 4 to 6pm in the evening. Three teachers are appointed to give them additional academic training. The monastic members impart moral and cultural training based on value education foundation. Nutritious food like milk, eggs, bread and fruits are given daily. Items for playing games are given at the end of session. Every month their health checkup is done and test examinations are conducted to assess their progress. As a part of this programme the utility items of daily use, like soap ,oil ,tooth brush, tooth paste , garments and educational items are given periodically.
